baby picture books

There are so many fun things you can do with photos for young children. I've made and received a few books/albums that have become cherished, prized possessions. Below are some of the layouts from those books.

The first was made for my now 5 year old. His transition to becoming a big brother was not a smooth one. This is one of the many ways that I tried to make that change easier for him. We talked a lot about what it was like when he was a baby, and he loved to look at pictures of himself as a baby- eating, crying, sleeping. It really helped him understand his new baby brother a little better.

I made this book for Sasha and gave it to her on her first birthday. If she's anything like her siblings, she'll love looking at these pictures of herself and seeing how fast she's grown.

I just love this book that my sister-in-law made. She used the text from a children's book called "I Love You Through and Through" by Bernadette Rossetti-Shustak, and inserted very apropos pictures of my son as illustrations.

It's amazing how you can calm a toddler or baby right down by bringing out photos of themselves or other babies to look at. I really like the idea your sister-in-law used of taking words from a book and inserting your own pictures. Grandmas would really like something like that! (So would mommies)

we have those Sassy "Who Loves Baby?" books that you can just slide a picture into. All of my kids love theirs. We haven't made one for Maren yet, but my girls have looked so much alike as babies that Isaac insists that Annie's book is really Maren's.

Oh wow! I haven't been here in a week and you've really remodeled. I love the turquoise and yellow background along with a wee bit of Natalie Merchant. Even though, I liked her better with 10,000 Maniacs.

I'm a mediocre mom with no cutesy books to give my kids, only pictures stuffed into boxes and an album from the dollar store.

One of my son's favorite books to read is one I made to get him going to bed easier. I bought 8 by 11 cardstock, and on each page, put a picture of him doing the pre-bedtime step (picking up toys, brushing teeth, reading books, etc) and decorated it with stickers, then put each page in a page protector and bound it with ribbons. One of these days I'll get around to making something for Maureen.
