Wild Card Wednesday

Les gave me an idea for today's post with her entry about "your life as a movie". It made me wonder what the theme song of my life would be... a song that always pops into my head at just the right moment. The melody or the words taking me out of my element and transcending me to a higher place. Maybe it's the rhythm or the beat that does it for me.

There are a number of songs that hold a situation specific memory for me. "Every Breath You Take" will always take me back to my college days and make me think of my husband and how in love with I am. "Closer to Fine" will always take me back to high school and make me think of close friends and the timeless bond we share. "Kanaka Wai Wai", the Hawaiian song about the parable of rich man, will always make me think of my late mother. Each of my babies have a Primary song I've rewritten for violin solo and dedicated to them on their blessing day... "I Am a Child of God", "Mother, Tell Me The Story" and "A Child's Prayer".

I used to watch Ally McBeal from time to time (heathen that I am :)) and loved her solo scenes where Barry White's deep, penetrating, molasses-like voice would cut in and give her the courage she needed to do whatever crazy thing was on her agenda that day. I want that, lol!

So, do any of you have a theme song? Or is this just crazy talk...

Mine is defninitely "Don't let anybody break-a my stride. Nobody's gonna slow me down, oh no, I got to keep on movin."

It's a good pace setter on a long, tiring run.

It's funny you brought this up. Itybtyfrog and I issue challenges to each other every week and a half or so. We just did a theme song. I love Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World". Whenever I am down I hum it to myself and I perk right up. It reminds me to see the world as half-full again.

"The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do
They're really saying I love you."

My favorite.

My husband is the main source of music in my life. I swear he knows every lyric to every song ever! He loves to collect kooky tunes, so, I often am going around with a song stuck in my head such as "Fish heads, fish heads, roly poly fish heads..." or "I know a mouse and he hasn't got a house, I don't know why. I call him Gerald..." Does that count?

I'll have to think about it. But, I am smiling thinking about "Closer to Fine" and Highschool. Wow. Lots of memories. Who sings that song? I was trying to think of them the other day.

Mine would definately be 4 Non Blondes - "What's going on?!" But I would have to change the part from 25 years to 31 years!! LOL! I have figured out my life a little bit more since then! :) I wish that I could have heard those violin solos. That is so neat!

Mine would definately be Edwin McCain's song: "I'll Be" I also like the song "Dust In The Wind" for a lesson about life in general.

I do a primary song for Camden too. I make up songs all the time, so the song of my life is ever changing. The past year was "Who needs Sleep" by the Barenaked Ladies.

I am the same with songs, I hear one and can think of an exact moment in my history where that song comes from. As for my own theme song? I don't know if I have just one, but maybe Another Day from the broadway musical RENT!

I don't have a theme song, but I did used to have Flight of the Bumblebee on my cell phone. I was told by several people how PERFECT that song was for me and my life.

I decided it DID fit my busy busy life...but that I wanted to SLOW DOWN, not have music that helped me speed up! lol So I changed it to something slow and methodical.

So I guess I have a theme song for what I WANT my life to be, not what it is. :)
