Confession Session

Wednesday's pet peeve deposit was so effective, I thought we could do a confession session today... this propelled by my in-laws' visit this week.

I have one closet in each bedroom and a very small coat closet downstairs. I always forget until they get here that they actually need a place to keep their clothes. Lol. And as I have very few closets, they are all stuffed to the brim with not only clothing and coats, but holiday decor, tchoskes, pillows, blankets, vacuum cleaners - you name it, and in no particular order! So, this is my confession - I am a closet pig! I am very good about keeping a clean and tidy home, to the envy of many of my friends, but what you can't see really doesn't bother me. So, imagine my horror, when on the spot I have to open up a closet and shove things out of the way for my interior designing mother-in-law to hang up a few articles of clothing. It's a humbling experience, to say the least.

... okay, you know what to do!

I'm a pack rat! I have piles all over the house (albeit nicely stacked piles) of papers, mail, school stuff, etc...that I'm not sure what to do with, but I'm afraid to get rid of any of it for fear I might need it in the not so near future. Every once in awhile, I go back to the piles because they begin to drive me nuts and try to decipher what I can get rid of and think to myself, "Why in the world did I ever feel it necessary to keep this?!?!"

I don't dust for weeks sometimes. Oh, and laundry piles up for days. I don't make my bed everyday. I eat too much junk food and don't drink enough water. This week, being spring break, I have left dirty dishes in the sink overnight...ok, for two nights!

MIL's have a way of revealing our biggest weaknesses!! I hate that!! Hummm, my big dark secret is that I like to spend most days in my pajamas! I am really trying to work on it!! :)

My oven is filthy. I hate cleaning ovens. Its a big black hole that no one ever sees. The high temps make it sterile enough, why hurt my knees trying to make it shine? It stems from the 4 years in college I spent cleaning everyone else's oven when we managed apartments to pay our rent. I didn't clean my own. Not even once. Left it for the managers who replaced us when we moved on. Ha! Ha! It's your life now, buddy!

That is so funny, my dh gets on me about stuffing the closets full of junk in no particular order. that is how I clean the house. if there is something laying around, I don't know where to put it, I shove it in the closet. I have the same issue with drawers.

My confession is that we have no closets. OK, we have one but that belongs to ds. All our clothes are hanging on a rack for all to see or in suitcases downstairs.

I refer to myself as a "closet slob". I will let you into the main floor of my house but you are never allowed upstairs or downstairs. That is where I have trained my family to run and shove. How embarrassing to let people see the piles of laundry and the unmade beds and the morning array of hair products that I would just rather not put away. Oh well. I have made peace with it...I think.

rofl!

My office is a mess. Papers everywhere and it's totally unorganized. Drives Greg crazy. His computer area is totally clean and neat. Mine looks like a bomb hit it.

I hate to mop. I have an enormous kitchen, which I love -- with light-colored linoleum, which I hate. I couldn't even tell you how long it's been since I mopped the entire floor--not counting the Swiffer Wet Jet spill clean ups.

I guess now that I've confessed, I need to put mopping the kitchen floor on my weekend "to do" list!!

I made gorgeous scrapbooks for my first two kids. Every moment of the first two years of their lives was elaborately documented. And despite telling everyone that I wouldn't slack off with subsequent kids, I just don't have the energy to make a big fancy one for the baby. And I feel so guilty about it. But what is worse-- the guilt or the time I'd invest in scrapbooking?

I have a "spotless" main floor at practically any given time. Seriously - ANYONE could just drop-by and I'd be fine with it.

However - the upstairs leaves a LOT to be desired... especially my "craft"/guest room.

(And Shelah... I have yet to start B's scrapbook, A and D are both stuck at 1yo!)

I don't really have a confession except that I LOVE your new site design. It looks great. I mean, it's not as classy as a blogger template hack-job with a floating head, but it's okay...I guess. :) Seriously. It looks great.

My confession ... I'm terrible with laundry. I can not for the life of me catch up - I have piles on the floor of my bedroom, and this morning, 4 year old DS said "mom can you clean your room, I keep tripping on laundry" ROFL. BTW - I love the look of your blog, it's so pretty!

I'm a very tidy person, I can't stand clutter. However...

My craft/sewing/guest room is the deposit for everything that has no home. It's the go-between room when I need to sort stuff. It's where I keep my scrapbooking and quilting projects always out for the spare moment I have time to work on them. Fortunately I can lock my kids out of it and since it's in the back of the house, no one has a reason to see it.
