Maybe it's because they know how bad it is for them?

Dear Abby,

Macaroni and cheese, also known as yellow death, is the fastest, easiest, cheapest food for tired moms to prepare. I admit to serving it once in a while, trying to pass it off as a "real meal" by adding fruit or green beans. That ain't so bad, right? I mean, it's not one of our food groups by any means. Lately, however, my youngest 2 have begun dumping half of theirs on the floor! What kid does that?

Is it time to broaden my horizons? Maybe try hot dogs?

Sincerely,
Desperate for easy meal night in Texas

Oatmeal is now my fall-back meal. It's easy and I don't feel guilty about serving it.

{In fact, my kids think it's odd to have oatmeal for breakfast...}

Ok, I admit I've never served it to my children becasue I hated it myself growing up. I once had to sit at the table until I ate it all. By the time I gagged it down--before the age of microwaves--it was as cold and clammy as it could ever be. It ruined me for life. Our easy meal is quesidillas, that can also be broadened to be more than it really is - add beans, or meat or veggies. (sp) You could also pretty up a couple packages of ramen noodles with chicken and stir fried veggies. Just stir fry the meat, and cook the noodles and veggies in half the recommended water. Then add the meat back in. Make sense?

Our latest fall back meal is mini pizzas made from biscuits in the tube. ROFL. I bet even mac and cheese is healthier than that.

While I definitely make my share of mac-n-cheese, I have to say that Ramen is faster, easier and cheaper. And probably even less nutritious. And I make it a lot.

Kendra does not like Macaroni and cheese I don't make it very often. :)

Fast fall back meals? humm, my kids like the costco hotdogs, the beef ones, I fry them in my cast iron pan!

Sometimes I think kids just want a bit of flavor in their food, we are so afraid to give fats, salt, and seasoning anymore!

Since I am a low carber, it is harder for me to find quick meals that fit what I can eat. Such is life I guess.

We make Ramen too. :) I'm all about easy, go-to meals. Lately, that's all I'm about!

we make it, we all eat it. I haven't found a homemade baked mac n cheese I like yet. I put tuna in it and call it good. The kids like to have it with a fruit cup.

My children all had it once in awhile and they turned out o.k.--so is it really all that bad. Frankly, I CAN'T STAND IT. (And yet, my kids still fix it for themselves (and their kids ; )

Bella can eat almost a whole box!!! I do however make the "healthy version" haha. What about dreamboats?..when we've done them with instant potatoes, it is a pretty fast meal. As far as healthy, I would say scrambled eggs and toast always make me feel like I am not poisoning my chils and hey, it is good protein and whole wheat carbs! Oh so fast too!!

Hey, I hear ya! That's what my daughter had for dinner last night! I make myself feel better by using the Annie's brand and tell myself at least it's a little more natural, right?

Pasta and tomato sauce is our major fallback. I get the piccolo ones- small, no need to cut it up....

I hear canned ravioli is more healthy than mac and cheese. But I still do the pasta death too. I think it's all good when you have sides and fruit! I like to have edemame on hand for added protein to any meal. Plus the multi-vitamin in gummy bear form each day... yeah, I'm SO on it.
