Yeah! That's what my doula said! And what is the upside you might ask? Generally, a faster active labor.
Well, duh, when your body has been warming up for about 3 months! Ugh.
So, seriously - can this go on for very long? I'm just barely 37 weeks! Update: Friday she dropped. Like a bowling ball into my pelvis (posterior, I might gleefully add)! Thankfully I had an appointment for that afternoon and my OB said for sure I wouldn't make it a week. Oh, and we got to peek at her almost 7 lb. chubby self. :) Yesterday I had contractions every 9-13 minutes apart all day long (except for during my nap whent hey were 17ish min. apart), but they didn't get any closer together than that or stronger. By bedtime, though, my lower back was in a good knot and my inner thighs and butt sore from all the pressure. Today, eh, I'm alright... not as many contractions, but they have gotten stronger. I am totally exhausted.
Whine, grimace, pout!

She's a-comin' alright!
Oh, so very happy for you!
That's kind of like saying there's an upside to having your jaw wired shut because you lose weight.
I hope this last stretch isn't too hard on you. Come on, Sasha!
can't wait for the big arrival- you're almost done
YAY! I can't wait!
Exciting!
I just looked at the nursery pictures, it is so nice! Your bangs look fabulous :-)
Rest up!I hope you get her in your arm in the next few days!
I hope she doesn't keep you in suspense (or pain) much longer!
Take some good baths. And drink lots of water. If they are irritable contractions because of the heat and being dehydrated that will help. As it is being hydrated wont hurt a thing for real labor to start.
Hoping for the best. I'm going to be gone Fri and Sat, so I hope I hear something before then. I'm sure you do too!
Hang in there!!
Smiling with fond memories!--I can't wait to hear the birth story!!
You get *snaps* for the toe polish! :-)C
Sounds like what happened with my last baby. Labor was a breeze though, compared to the early labor. Of course I got an epi before I really needed it though, tee hee.
I hope it doesn't last much longer!!
Good Luck!! I remember those days of labor, which I don't miss. However, I do miss holding those sweet tiny little babies. I'm so happy for you.
I was thinking along these lines just this weekend (thankfully mine hasn't dropped yet). With both my previous two I was dialated 2-3 cm starting at week 36 (that appointment's today for #3, so we'll see). But in effect that means I was in labor for over a month each time! It just makes you tired thinking about it. I think your doula might be a trying too hard to see the "up-side" through the clouds :) Here's hoping you're nearing the end of your long labor road. As for me, probably another month or so. Sigh.
Ahhh...the end stages of pregnancy are so much fun. I had my first daughter at 37 weeks. It's considered full term! I'll bet she'll be here soon!
Good luck!
Go, baby, go!!
"Prodormal"? Is this a word I should know? Or did I totally miss out, having all C-sections?
Oh yea!! I had prodromal labor since 20 weeks and had about an hour of real labor contractions before my baby was born.
Oh I am sooooo excited for you!!! I can't wait!!!
PS My doctor sent me to labor and delivery the other day. I thought nothing of it but, they kept me there for 4 hours and did a million and one tests. They said that I have "irritable uterous". Isn't that what you have? So- no picking up the baby, no nothing. Yuck! I am only 32 weeks though so I have to wait a bit before I push it again.
Oh Zoe - I am so sorry! That is one of my problems... irritability sucks, because anything can set your contractions in motion.
Naddin - believe it or not, it's a real thing - and not fun. :( This si the second pg I've had it and last time I was fianlly induced at 6cm because my body jsut would not keep it going! I am SO hoping to avoid that this time by getting her into a good position (she favors psoterior, little stinker).
Oh congrats!! I am so excited for you the nursery looks lovely!!
WaHoo!!! Honey, take some castor oil and get that baby OUT!!!
I hope everything goes well...wishing you a short labor and a healthy baby!
She'll be here soon and it will all be worth it!
I'm so excited for you! It won't be much longer now! And your nursery is sooooooo cute to put her in. What a lucky baby girl!
Okay, okay, is Sasha here yet?!?! The suspense! Hoping you have a quick and EASY delivery!
Her nursery has come together so nicely, by the way!
You are sooooo close!!!
She has to be here by now! If not you need to blog so we know!! I hope it all goes (or went) well. I can't wait for pictures and the story!!
